Report: Durga Puja – 2020

Swami Prasannatmananda, the Minister in Charge of the Berkeley Vedanta Center and San Jose House, conducted Durga Pooja on Sunday Oct 25th, 2020 at 3pm in Berkeley. Since gatherings are prohibited in California due to the global Covid 19 pandemic, devotees could not attend the pooja in person. However, about 150 devotees watched he pooja via Facebook Live and Live streaming on YouTube to celebrate the occasion. Melodious singing by Sumita Chakraborty accompanied the worship. A few volunteers wearing masks and following social distancing helped in preparing for the pooja and cooking prasad. This year, due to the pandemic restrictions, Durga pooja will not be held at the San Jose House. About 20 pre-packaged prasad boxes were distributed at the Berkeley center and 15 boxes for devotees at the San Jose House.
