Vedanta Society Berkeley observed Mahashivarathri with special worship at its sanctuary on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at 7:00 pm. Swami Prasannatmananda, Swami-In-Charge of the Society performed the worship. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic devotees were not allowed on the premises. Total 156 devotees viewed the worship online by live streaming on YouTube and on Facebook Live. Sumita Chakraborty chanted hymns and sang devotional songs during the worship. Recorded chorus songs sung by the devotees’ choir lead by Alokparana Dev were also played. The puja (worship) ceremony ended with arati and the chorus ‘Ramakrishna Sharanam’. A small group of volunteers who helped with the arrangement of worship had a prasad box. The video of the celebration is available on YouTube and Facebook live.
