January 2021

Grace and peace to you from the Holy Trio. Happy New Year to all the members, devotees, friends and all of you who are connected to our  centers and participate in our programs. May the Holy Trio bless you all to make you healthy, joyful and fulfilled throughout the year starting with Divine Kalpataru Day.
People of different faiths, as well as those who have no particular belief, can benefit from the lectures. Vedanta is impersonal and rational; it is not a particular creed but includes all creeds and affirms that they are different expressions of One Truth.
Lectures are delivered through Live Streaming by Swami Prasannatmananda at the sanctuary of the Vedanta Society Berkeley every at 11:00 pm PST.

Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve Celebration 2020
Vedanta Society Berkeley conducted Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve virtual program at 7.00 pm on Thursday Dec. 24, 2020 . While initial plans were to carry on with the tradition of a live program in the sanctuary, due to the relentless upsurge of COVID-19, the strict lockdown imposed by the state of California, and for the safety and wellbeing of all, this year’s Christmas eve program was a recorded event. The program included a welcome address by Swami Prasannatmananda, Swami-in-Charge of Vedanta Society Berkeley, who spoke on the triple significance of December 24 in the life of Swami Vivekananda.  Traditional Christmas Carols celebrated the birth of baby Jesus. Reverend Father M. Melchizedek Kennedy, Parish priest of St. Francis Xavier Church delivered a special talk on Jesus Christ and Christmas. Vedanta Society Berkeley wishes everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Swami Vivekananda:
Always Alive
Swamiji's fun-making is of the merry type. Sometimes he will say, "Now I am going to cook for you"! He is a wonderful cook and delights in serving the "brithrin". The food he prepares is delicious but for "yours truly" too hot with various spices; but I made up my mind to eat it if it strangled me, which it nearly did. If a Vivekananda can cook for me, I guess the least I can do is to eat it. Bless Him!
